PM Modi to Inaugurate Bengaluru Metro Pink Line's Elevated Stretch on November 13

The 7.5 km Kalena Agrahara–Tavarekere section of Namma Metro's Pink Line, with six stations, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 13, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said on Monday. It moves the date up from the November 15 given earlier. BMRCL has not yet issued an official notice.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the elevated stretch of Bengaluru Metro's Pink Line on November 13, 2026, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said on Monday, November 2. The 7.5 km section runs from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere along Bannerghatta Road. According to Deccan Herald, the Prime Minister will flag off the line in Bengaluru before travelling to Mysuru for a public event.

The new date is two days earlier than the November 15 that the state government had given after the stretch received its safety clearance. BMRCL has not yet issued an official notice with the time passenger services will start, or a timetable, for the new section.

What opens on November 13

The elevated section has six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere. Jayadeva Hospital is an interchange with the Yellow Line, so riders from Electronic City and Silk Board can change trains there for Bannerghatta Road. Reports put the initial fleet at five to six trains; BMRCL has not confirmed the train count, frequency or a separate fare table. Fares are expected to follow Namma Metro's existing distance-based slabs, which the fare calculator uses.

Opening the stretch will take Namma Metro's operational network to about 103.6 km. Deccan Herald reports that this makes it the second-largest metro network in India.

How the stretch got here

The elevated section missed its original August 15, 2026 launch target. It was held up by the Independent Safety Assessment certificate for its signalling system, which BMRCL received in late September, and by Railway Board approval of the BEML trains. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) inspected the line from October 6 to 8, and the safety clearance was announced on October 28.

The rest of the 21.26 km Pink Line is the underground section from Dairy Circle to Nagawara. It runs through MG Road, where it will meet the Purple Line, and is expected to open in 2027. Station-by-station details, the opening timeline and the planned interchanges are on our Pink Line route and opening date guide, which we will update when BMRCL publishes timings.
