Yellow Line Fleet & Frequency — August 2026 Update

BMRCL procured 15 three-car trains for the Yellow Line, manufactured by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen and assembled by Titagarh Rail Systems — every new train must complete 750 km of dynamic testing before entering passenger service. From a launch fleet of just three trains (a 25-minute headway in August 2025), the line has scaled up in steps: 19 minutes from September 2025, 15 minutes from 1 November, then 13, 12 and 10 minutes through the winter.

With 10 trains now in regular service, peak-hour frequency stands at about 7 minutes, with off-peak trains roughly every 10 minutes — a dramatic improvement on the launch-day wait. BMRCL is preparing to cut peak frequency further to 6 minutes as the remaining trainsets are commissioned and ridership keeps climbing.

Electronic City is the main reason the Yellow Line was built. Here's how to get there from anywhere on the metro network:

From Majestic / Purple Line Stations

1. Take the Purple Line to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda (Majestic).
2. At Majestic, follow signs to the Green Line platform (same-station interchange, no re-ticketing needed).
3. Take the Green Line southbound towards Silk Institute and get off at RV Road (3 stops from Majestic, ~8 min).
4. At RV Road, follow signs to the Yellow Line platform (same-station interchange).
5. Take the Yellow Line southbound to Electronic City (11 stops, ~22 min) or your destination station.

Total: Majestic → Electronic City takes ~50 min, fare ₹70 token (₹63 smart card). One ticket covers all interchanges — no need to buy separate tickets for each line.

From Green Line Stations (Nagasandra–Silk Institute)
