Yellow Line Fleet & Frequency — July 2026 Update
BMRCL has procured 15 three-car trains for the Yellow Line, manufactured by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen and assembled by Titagarh Rail Systems. Trains are being delivered and commissioned progressively — each new train must complete 750 km of dynamic testing before entering passenger service.
Once all 15 trains are operational, BMRCL plans to reduce peak-hour frequency to 4–5 minutes, a significant improvement from the current headways. The expanded fleet will also improve off-peak frequency.

Why the Yellow Line Matters
The Yellow Line (Reach 5 of Phase 2) is one of the most impactful additions to the Namma Metro network. Here's what it changed for Bengaluru:
- Electronic City finally connected — Bengaluru's largest IT hub (home to Infosys, Wipro, TCS and 200+ tech companies) had no rail link before the Yellow Line. Over 2 lakh IT professionals commute along Hosur Road daily; the metro cuts a 90-minute car journey to under 35 minutes.
- Hosur Road decongestion — The Silk Board–Electronic City stretch of Hosur Road is consistently ranked among the most congested corridors in India. The Yellow Line provides a direct alternative, reducing road traffic and pollution.
- Network integration — The RV Road interchange connects the Yellow Line to the Green Line (and via Majestic to the Purple Line), making Electronic City reachable from anywhere on the metro network. Future interchanges at Jayadeva Hospital (Pink Line) and Central Silk Board (Blue Line/airport line) will further expand connectivity.
- Affordable commute — At ₹60 token (₹54 smart card), the RV Road–Electronic City metro fare is a fraction of the cost of cab rides along the same route, saving commuters thousands of rupees per month.
