Central Silk Board junction is one of Bengaluru's most congested road intersections — the metro is often the only reliable option to beat the traffic. The station sits at the crossroads of the Outer Ring Road (IT corridor), BTM Layout (dense residential) and HSR Layout (mix of residential and commercial). It is the southern anchor for IT commuters on the Yellow Line.
The junction gets its name from the Central Silk Board of India, a statutory body established in 1948 for the development of the silk industry, which had its office at this location. For decades the area was a quiet government office zone. As Bengaluru's IT corridor developed along the Outer Ring Road and Hosur Road in the early 2000s, Silk Board junction became one of the city's most congested intersections — infamous for 45-minute waits at a single traffic signal. The opening of the Yellow Line metro in August 2025 finally gave commuters a way to bypass the gridlock.
The metro has begun reshaping the area. HSR Layout and BTM Layout, previously difficult to reach during peak hours, are now connected to the rest of the metro network. Property values in both neighbourhoods have risen since the station opened.

The first metro from Central Silk Board Station departs at approximately 5:30 AM (Tuesday–Saturday; Mondays start earlier at ~5:05 AM) and 7:00 AM on Sundays. The last train is around 10:45 PM. Central Silk Board is on the Yellow Line (RV Road to Bommasandra).
Exit 1 leads to HSR Layout Sectors 1 and 2, including Agara Commercial Complex and the BDA Complex. Exit 2 goes toward BTM Layout 2nd Stage and Bommanahalli junction. For IT offices in HSR Layout, Exit 1 is the right choice.
Take the Yellow Line metro to Central Silk Board Station and exit directly — no signal wait at all. From Exit 2 you can auto or cab to BTM Layout or Bommanahalli. From Exit 1, HSR Layout Agara and Sector 1 are a short walk. This completely bypasses the notorious Silk Board junction.
