KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station ↔ Majestic Metro
The city's main railway hub, right by the metro
KSR Bengaluru City Junction (station code SBC) — the city's busiest railway terminal — is served by Majestic metro station, officially Nadaprabhu Kempegowda station. This is the Purple ↔ Green interchange, the heart of the whole network, so you can reach it from almost anywhere with at most one change.
The metro concourse is about 300–500 m from the railway platforms — a 3–5 minute walk — and the two are linked by walkways and a subway, so you don't have to cross the busy main road. Follow the station signs toward the railway station / Kempegowda (Majestic) bus station; the gate marked for the railway side is the quickest exit.
Yeshwanthpur Junction ↔ Yeshwanthpur Metro
A short walk on the Green Line
Yeshwanthpur Junction (YPR), the city's second-biggest railway station and the origin of many long-distance trains, is right beside Yeshwanthpur metro station on the Green Line. It's a short walk of roughly 250–500 m (about 3–7 minutes) via the foot-over bridge/skywalk linking the two.
From Yeshwanthpur, the Green Line runs south to Majestic (for the Purple Line and KSR City station) and north toward Madavara — handy if your train arrives here but you're headed into the centre.
KR Puram Railway Station ↔ KR Puram Metro
Practically next door — about 94 metres
KR Puram railway station (KJM) and Krishnaraja Puram metro station on the Purple Line are among the closest rail-to-rail connections in the city — about 94 metres apart, a 2-minute walk. If you're coming into KR Puram by train and heading to Whitefield, the IT corridor or MG Road, step straight onto the metro.
KR Puram is set to become an even bigger node: the upcoming Blue Line will add a metro interchange here, turning it into a rare triple-rail hub (Purple Line + Blue Line + railway).
SMVT Bengaluru (Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal) ↔ Baiyappanahalli Metro
Nearest metro is Baiyappanahalli — take a short auto
SMVT Bengaluru (Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal), the city's modern third terminal in the east, is served by Baiyappanahalli metro station on the Purple Line — the line's original eastern terminus. Unlike the others, this isn't a walk: SMVT is about 2.5–3 km from the metro, so take a quick auto-rickshaw or feeder bus (about 10 minutes) between the terminal and the station.
Once at Baiyappanahalli, the Purple Line takes you straight through Indiranagar, MG Road and the centre, or east to KR Puram and Whitefield.
Coming Soon: Cantonment
Bengaluru Cantonment railway station (BNC) doesn't have a metro link yet, but one is on the way: the upcoming Pink Line includes an underground Cantonment station beside the railway station, which will give it a direct metro connection once the line opens. Check the Pink Line status page for the latest opening timeline.
Tips for a Smooth Train ↔ Metro Transfer
- Allow a few extra minutes: every metro station has an airport-style bag scan and metal detector at the entrance — factor this in when you have a train to catch.
- Buy before you walk: you can book your metro ticket on WhatsApp or the app, or pay cash for a token at the counter. A smart card saves time if you'll ride often.
- Large luggage: small and medium bags are fine on the metro; left-luggage lockers are available at Majestic if you want to explore hands-free between trains.
- Check the fare first: fares are distance-based (₹10–₹90) — use the fare calculator to budget your onward metro leg.
